Tobaski Ram

HI all Im hoping someone will be able to help! Does anyone have an idea how much a ram for Tobaski is likely to cost this year. Maybe FJ or anyone who is currently out there may be able to assist. Dont mind if answer is in Dalasi or Sterling. Thanks to all in anticipation

Karen.

Hi Karen, my husband is in the process of buying a ram for the family Tobaski celebrations. He says that if you buy one at Abuko it is likely to cost around £130. However if someone is willing to travel to Amdali, near the border with Senegal, they have a weekly ram auction on Wednesdays, and it should be possible to pick up a decent size ram for £80/£90.

that seems really expensive, how long does the goat last and how many does it feed?

and why does it have to be a goat?

Tobaski means the festival of the slaughter of the goat, but most people cannot afford a goat ao they buy a sheep instead.

Its the other way round if you cant afford a ram then you buy a goat

The animal is sacrificed in the morning and then eaten a little later that day.

the noise of rams being slaughtered is awful

Look tobaski up in the forums there is lots written about it
