eating out in Gambia

we are 2 women late 30's thinking of going to Gambia for about a week or 10 days in October for a cheap get away - we are thinking of staying at either sunbeach or kombo - and also wanted to know how much an average meal with wine would be in a restuarant as we are credit crunching!!

october still humid, some restuarants still closed go november big travel companies start to operate cheaper than gambia experience average meal with wine in tourist restuarants 2/3 of what it costs in the UK, careful about credit cards a lot of places in gambia dont take them. Tip go to your local librairy or book shop and get The Rough guide to The Gambia, very enlightening. regards malcolm

it can be as little as you want or as much as you want, all restaurants have price lists outside so have a look during the day when it is quiet, then you can decide your price range, i do drink white wine there and it is quite nice, had better, but certainly had a lot worse.

eating, and drinking at the beach huts is really cheap just make sure it aint attatched to any hotel, because then you will be paying hotel prices. hope that helps

macbaine is right it is incredibly humid right now , and it is a bit quiet, but if all you want is some hot weather then you will certainly get that!!!

wine is quite expensive in restaurants best to buy a bottle at the supermarket. bottle of South African wine will be about D170, 4.25 pounds. In a restaurant about 1-2pounds a glass!!!
