Safari while Pregnant?

My husband and I have a 10 day safari planed in Tanzania this July 2016 (Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Seregeti). I just found out I'm pregnant and will be 12-16 weeks during the trip. Does anyone have any experience being pregnant on a trip like this?

Thanks!

Try a forum search on the Kenya forum for this. There was a thread on this about 6 months ago with some contributions from people with direct experience. Needless to say, official advice is that you need to talk to your doctor!

So I spend most of the year in Tanzania with my family. We have a new addition who was born last September. Anyway, being pregnant sure did not stop my wife from enjoying a trip to the bush.

While she was still ready to get out to Serengeti at 7 months we decided that it probably was not a great idea because of the bumpy roads. We both feel that a trip at 5 months or less is really not much to worry about.

Do speak with your doctor about anti-malarial medication as this is an important precaution. Also, I would not eat any uncooked/unpeeled foods or vegetables, just to be extra safe.

Also, do let the company and guide know. This way he can drive a bit more carefully. Be sure and have flying doctors evacuation insurance as well.

Do PM me if you have any more specific questions.
