You probably would want to take the train instead. It will be MUCH more affordable and comfortable too.

A guess, would be about 2,400 dirham, assuming you want a direct journey (about 6 hours via the motorway, tolls about 150 dhm), obviously more if you want to do the journey over a longer period.
I normally reckon on 40dh per 100km per seat. So taking all six seats means around 240dh per 100km and Fez to Marrakech by the direct 'N' roads is almost 500km, so think in terms of 1200dh for a one-day direct trip.
I guess if you went via the motorway it would be closer to 1600dh including tolls. Obviously the taxi driver will start by quoting from some astronomical sum but the rates above are fair.
Unless you want to see some of the many interesting sights along the way (in which case you need two or more days) there's no point taking a taxi when you can 'let the train take the strain'.
Hi. We are a party of three going from Fez to Marrakech and want to know if it would be cheaper to rent a car or take the train?. If we take the train, we are considering taking athe overnight train from 230am-1000am and want to know what sites we would be missing by traveling at night.
Cheaper by train. It takes just over 7 hours - reserve 1st class seats (a couchette if travelling overnight). Others may disagree but the scenery on this route is not the most spectacular that Morocco has to offer.
There is no couchette service between Fes and Marrakech. As the previous poster said the scenery is fine but you don't really miss that much. The slower road route over the Middle Atlas mountain is the more scenic one, but the faster motorway & train both take a lowland route.
1st class train fare is 295 dhm single, so you can check car hire costs and compare the cost with 3 train fares.
It is better if you take the day-time train instead of the night train because it is much safer for you.(personal opinion)
