Disneyland in June. Would love some help and have questions

My husband and I would love to go to Disneyland and Universal in June. Specifically June 23-27 (my birthday is June 25) Are we too late to plan in time? We would like to stay at a Disneyland property and also check out Universal but it's not super important we stay at a Disneyland Resort. Any recommendations on where to stay whether it be a Disneyland resort or not? Is 3 days at Disneyland and 1 day at Universal enough time? We plan to just go mainly for Disneyland and Universal and come back another time to do L.A, San Diego etc. Which airport should we fly into? Also does how does the fast pass work and is there any perks to staying at a Disneyland property? Thanks so much for any help!

I would suggest booking something soon if you want to stay at one of the Disney owned Hotel. Summertime is a busy time as lots of Schools are out for Summer Break basically from the first part of June through the end of August each year.

The largest perk with staying at a Disney owned Hotel is the early entry which you can take advantage of with a valid Disneyland ticket. On different days there would be an early entry into either California Adventure Park or Disneyland Park. And Hotels like the Disneyland Hotel and the Grand Californian are quite nice Hotels to stay in. The Disneyland Hotel is about a 10 min walk to the turnstiles, and the Grand Californian about a 6 min walk depending on where your staying in the Hotel. Here is more info on the perks.

https:/…

You do though have alot of other options in very close walking distance as well that are not run by Disneyland so it depends on what your looking for. If you want a nicer Hotel with those amenities.. those would be in about a 13 min walk with Art Shuttle service that go to and from Disneyland nearby for a fee per person. And standard Motels... are within about a 7 min walk. Let us know a budget per night your wanting to spend without taxes, and what kind of accommodation your looking for such as a nicer Hotel etc, and we can make other suggestions.

3 days at Disneyland is usually suggested for a visit with a Parkhopper. The two Park entrances face each other separated by a short walkway area, so its easy to hop back and forth multiple times in a day. 1 day at Universal is usually enough for most people. There are only about 15 attractions. Keep in mind, Universal is located in LA, which is about a 1 hour drive North of Anaheim where Disneyland is located.

For Disneyland, SNA is the closer Airport and puts you about a 20 min drive away from Disneyland.

The free Fastpass system is easy to use, and the use of it is activated on your ticket each day as you enter for you to use your ticket at attraction to pick up a Fastpass reminder of when to return. You also now have the new Max Pass right now available for $10 per person per day which basically just allows you to get a Fastpass on your phone without having to go to an attraction to get one. Here is more info on both.

Thank you so much for getting back to me! How much earlier are you allowed entry if staying at a Disneyland resort? Our budget is anywhere from 150 to about 450 a night but we wouldn’t mind staying somewhere nice that is not a Disneyland property. Probably not interested in motels but what other hotels within walking distance are nice? We don’t mind walking at all. Also is there a shuttle or some kind of public transportation to go to LA for the day to do Universal without having to rent a car or switch hotels? Would you suggest doing Universal pre Disney or post Disney? Thanks!

You are admitted one hour early when you stay at a Disney property. Not all attractions are open but some of the most popular ones are, so you can get those under your belt before the hordes descend. $450 will certainly get you into one of the Disney properties. Outside you should expect $150 to $250 depending on how 'nice' you need it.

For Hotels... the closest is the new Courtyard Anaheim theme Park entrance. Its about a 10 min walk to the turnstiles that go into either Park. And the new Springhill suites... on Katella and the new Hyatt House... are both about a 13 min walk with Art shuttle service stop available nearby that goes to and from Disneyland for a fee per person. See what you think of those options.

If you are talking about the new Homewood Suites Convention Center...2010 S. Harbor Blvd, its a nice well rated Hotel. Not close walking distance to Disneyland, but is about a 5 min walk to the Toy Story Parking lot where you can pick up the free Tram going to and from Disneyland and has Art shuttle service stop available there as well.

Just to clarify the early entry is for select areas in the parks only. For example, in Disneyland it is Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.

Of the three Disney owned hotels, I would choose Disneyland Hotel. Be aware that by summer there is a chance that there may be some construction happening in Downtown Disney at the end near the DLH. Three of the buildings will come down in the summer in preparation for another hotel that will open in 2021. There will be attractive walls to hide it any construction and definitely a nice pathway through. But you will want to request a pool or courtyard view.

There are a couple of things to think about when comparing the difference of staying on property with staying off property.

The walk will be different. From the DLH the walk is through a outdoor mall kind of area with landscaping, fountains, and piped in music. The walk from outside of the Disneyland Resort is along a busy multilane city street, attractively landscaped.

The security check for the Disneyland Hotel is used mostly by guests of the DLH and the on site hotel restaurants.

The security check that the off site hotel guests use is used by all the off site hotels within walking distance, those arriving by shuttles, and those arriving by bus and Uber. So more people are passing through there and it may at times make those lines long.

For a nice off property hotel look at the Sheraton Park, especially Club Level. Make sure to check their website for possible specials.

There is also the Paradise Pier, Disney resort on property. It is the "cheaper" of the 3, and a little further away, but the walk is not that bad at all. We stayed there and did a 3-day park hopper, it was perfect!

I wouldn't consider the Sheraton Park. It is a long walk, and not as upscale as I expected. I was a bit disappointed - it's not terrible, but you can do better. The rooms are very dated and it just feels a little dumpy. If you can afford it definitely stay at the Grand Californian or the Disneyland Hotel!

Oh, and PS if you didn't already get an answer regarding airport, you should fly into Orange County (SNA) as first choice, or Long Beach as second choice.

Why does nobody mention Paradise Pier? I found it to be very nice and close to the parks. Also, LAX is a lot cheaper and not that much farther away.

Maybe it is just me.
