evening activities?

It seems like most of the attractions we'd like to see (museums, gov't buildings, etc.) close around 5pm. Besides dinner, what else is there to do in the evening? We are a couple (late 20s/early 30s) and we don't drink much or enjoy bars/clubs.

Except for Mondays, there is always plenty of theater productions to see in DC. Lots of music going on to, outside of the bars. What do you do at home?

at home? go to the gym, watch tv, see a movie, read, shop. We would probably enjoy seeing a show or concert, but wouldn't want to spend too much money.

Two DC-specific possibilities:

Or a Wizards (NBA) or Capitals (NHL) game. Or, if you bundle up, a moonlight tour of the monuments.

Politics and Prose has evening events:

I'd also recommend checking out the Washington Post City Guide for events while you're here--without knowing your dates, it's hard to recommend something more specific. I'm sure you won't be bored though!

Trying the Shear Madness link again:

The Kennedy Center also has free performances on the Millennium Stage.

And if you like bookstores, Kramer Books is a doozy, and has live music to boot.

Thanks! I think we would enjoy the Capital Steps show.

We haven't set our dates yet; probably coming next April sometime after the cherry blossom fest is over. Just trying to figure out a general budget right now before looking for rooms, etc.
