16 Day Grand Circle trip in March

Does anyone see any issues or have any suggestions on the below itinary for last 2 weeks of March next year?

Day 1 Arrive Las Vegas (Stay in Vegas)

Day 2 Zion (Stay in Springdale)

Day 3 Zion (Stay in Springdale)

Day 4 Bryce Canyon (Stay in Tropic)

Day 5 Capitol Reef (Stay in Torrey)

Day 6 Arches (Stay in Moab)

Day 7 Canyonlands / Dead Horse Point (Stay in Moab)

Day 8 Arches or Canyonlands (Stay in Moab)

Day 9 Mesa Verde (Stay in Cortez)

Day 10 Monument Valley (Stay in Page)

Day 11 Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon (Stay in Page)

Day 12 Grand Canyon (Stay in Grand Canyon NP)

Day 13 Grand Canyon (Stay in Seligman)

Day 14 Las Vegas (Stay in Las Vegas)

Day 15 Las Vegas (Stay in Las Vegas)

Day 16 Las Vegas (Flight home)

We would like a few days in Las Vegas but are flexible on the rest and looking to see the best of the area. Most days in the parks will be either spent doing short hikes or stopping at viewing areas if we dont have enough time for a short hike. We want to see as much of the Grand Canyon as possible so plan to spend as much time as possible there while only paying for one night stay in the park. We'll probably stop at most the viewing areas and maybe walk a short way on some of the trails.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

This is a good plan. It is early in season. Crowds will be better. Weather could potentially be rainy/snowy in places like Bryce and Moab. Easter is later in April so you miss that rush. Most everything you want to see in Mesa Verde will be closed. I would drop that from your plan. You can always use another night in Moab.

Have fun.

I agree that you should drop Mesa Verde from the plan as most of if will be closed in March. Do don't have enough time there any way.

If you stay in Tropic, you'll miss sunset and sunrise at Bryce because you will need to be back there before sunset. The best place to stay at Bryce is the Lodge inside the park.

You wouldn't stay in Page to visit Monument Valley. For the best experience at MV, you should stay at MV so you can experience sunset and sunrise. Page is 2.5 hours away.

You may want to consider doing this trip in reverse, going to the Grand Canyon first. That gets the long drive out of the way at the beginning of the trip and brings you in to Zion thru the iconic, stunning east entrance.

If you haven't already, get to work on booking all your accommodations.

Thanks for the replies so far. We'd seen that most the trails to the cliff dwellings are closed in Mesa Verde but it looked like there are some viewing areas where you can see them from a distance. The scenery also looked like it would be nice, and different to a lot of the rest of the trip.

The day we plan to see Monument Valley and stop at Page we planned on stopping off for a few hours and exploring it during the journey between Cortez and Page. Would it be worth sacrificing a day elsewhere so we could spend longer exploring Monument Valley?

Those viewing areas at Mesa Verde are really distant. think you should plan a trip to Mesa Verde where you can do the cliff dwelling tours. That's the most important reason for going there. Use the night you had scheduled for Mesa Verde at Monument Valley. Take a back country tour there.

Thanks for the advice. We might look at breaking the drive between Moab and Page with a night near monument valley instead. It does look like there are some nice tours round there.
