Portland Day Trip to coast & back

We will be in Portland in two weeks. We will only have 3 full days. One day will be doing the coast. One day thinking of Mt Hood & Bridge of the Gods, possibly wine country. Day 3 The Pearl District, Nob Hill and Portland. Question Day 1 Wed. Would like input on this idea. Portland drive to Depoe Bay then work way north up coast and stop at Tilamook, Rockaway Bay, ending at Astoria back to Portland., Would we be able to do in a day..,., Long as it may be. Also would there be areas to park and hike?

Day 2 Thursday. Thinking doing Multonomah Falls, then Mt. Hood and Bridge of the Gods. Are we close to wine country?

Day 3 Site seeing Nob Hill, Portland & The Pearl District.

So would love input. There will be 5 of us. Want to do as much of the coast as possible. Open for any suggestions on where to go or stop on any of the three days. If wine county can enter into the plan that is a plus, but not a must.

Thank you for helping

Day one: No, either do a mid- coast loop (the larger one ) which takes in Lincoln City to Florence or a shorter loop which would be to go out to Cannon Beach, South on Highway 101 to the North end of Tillamook and pick up Highway 6 back toward Portland.

Agree w/ Eddie on Day 1- just head west on hwy 26 to Cannon beach then drive south to Tillamook and return on hwy 6. While not alot of miles- there is so much to do and see in that section it will take a full day to drive. If you run out of things to do you can continue south on 3 Capes Drive after Tillamook and continue to Pacific City and return back to Portland. The portion between CB and Tillamook is considered one of the most scenic stretches of 101. - youll want to stop alot.

Day 2- not close to wine country- you'll be in the mountains and trees! :)

Chinookgrrl thanks for the input. I have looked a little closer at the shorter loop including Cannon Beach You say that there is a lot to do in that area encompassing Tillamook. Would you be able to give me some ideas. Not at all familiar with the area. Would even be willing to do a little hiking. Nothing over the top. 4 of us are just casual hikes... Also if you would have any knowledge or suggestions for our day 2 to Mt. Hood and wondering is it still worth it to go to Multnomah Falls with all the trails open. Have always wanted to see, we actually come from IMO the Most majestic of all falls Niagara so love to see the smaller hidden ones. Thanks for any help

In regards to Tillamook. The segment of Highway 101 between Cannon Beach and the North end of Tillamook is one of the more scenic pats of that highway. Picking up Highway 6 to go back to Portland you then are making a convenient loop on Day 1. You don't want to stop in Tillamook itself. Cute name though isn't it ? For clarity here is the route:

Portland to Cannon Beach (take Highway 26 out to Cannon Beach)

Cannon Beach to North end of Tillamook at junction of Highway 6 ( South on Highway 101)

Tillamook to Portland ( take Highway 6 and rejoin Highway 26 back to Portland )

cheryl- the majority of the attractions are between Cannon Beach and Tillamook(following Eddies Route)- if you need more things to do after Tillamook, Suggest going out Three Capes Loop to Cape Mears Lighthouse-due west of Tillamook. or visit the free Tillamook State Forest Center on highway 6 on your way back to Portland.

If you want to visit the Gorge and falls, I would still do it. A portion of the historic highway is open, here is the best map that shows what is open and what is closed.

Alternatively on Day two you could go to Silver Falls State Park and wine country. you would not be able to visit Mt Hood.

Thanks for the input. I did a little more research last night. I think we will be good to go. Just hoping to see as much as possible.
