Any recommendations where to stop at NH before Maine?

Where are you driving from? When are you traveling? Where are you headed to in ME? What is your goal for stopping in NH? How long do you want to stop?

Traveling from Baltimore and headed to Portland, Maine. Only for 2-3 hours.

Check the timing, but you could take I-93 north to Lincoln, NH; NH R t12 (extremely scenic) through the White Mtns National Forest to Conway, NH; then pick up US Rt 302 to Portland (nice ride through the western Maine lakes region).

If you are heading up 95, then definitely Portsmouth, NH. Quaint downtown harborfront area with lots of places to eat and shop and an interesting hour-long harbor cruise if it is a nice day.

I like Mainer's idea, but you will use your 2-3 hours just driving. A stop in Portsmouth is a great idea. You could also make it a beach stop in Hampton, NH, or go to the Nubble Light in York, ME.
