Or - is this a better MN/WI itinerary?

Please compare this to my other itinerary and tell me what you think.

KC to Stillwater, MN

Stillwater, MN to Duluth, MN

Explore the Lakeshore drive – stay in Grand Marias or return to Duluth?

Duluth to Bayfield, WI and Apostle Islands

Bayfield to La Crosse

La Crosse to Prairie du Chien

Prairie du Chien to Spring Green

Spring Green to KC

What are your thoughts? I welcome any suggestions.

Thank you so much!

Hi Mary -

Best to keep it to one thread or it'll get confusing for me... LOL!

This better Mary,Do the Minnesota side and then Wisconsin side, still a a lot cover in a few days. We normally spend 3 days in Duluth area, including the north shore drive and don't get all in. Bayfield too, but we traveled in RVs. Peak weekend travel going in and out of the Twin Cities while double your driving. time

Pay attention to road construction, it will lengthen your drive times.

You could spend days just in Prairie du Chien / Spring Green / Mineral Point

Definitely spend some time in Grand Marais vs more time in Duluth. Just know the drive to/from GM should be leisurely as there's so much to see and can be congested in Two Harbors if your drive time is bad.

I would recommend Lanesboro over LaCrosse, is there a reason you choose the latter? It would add an hour drive time one way... then you could also drive thru Decorah (worth at least a day if not an overnight) going to SW Wisconsin... Mineral Point IMO is awesome. THEN if you have any extra time, Galena IL is a great stop en route back home.
