Hello

We have visited Boston several times and are going back this september.

Wondering which restaurants bostonians like the best since I'm a bit tired of the touristy overpriced restaurants I have been to.

We like relaxed atmosphere and great seafood.

Please advise,

Best

What overpriced and touristy restaurants are you referring to?

Atlantic Fish Back Bay; LoConte’s North End for Italian. But that’s just me. Ask 20 more people snd you’ll get 50 more recs.

Unclear, would you want a list of overpriced restaurants that visitors don’t go to?

Thanks for getting back to me.

I’d like to try those restaurants Bostonians believe are best, not necessarily what’s listed in hotel guides.

Best clam chowder?

Best oyster and best deal for oysters?

Maybe a nice Chinese?

Thanks

Check out Hourly Oyster in Harvard Square. I’m not a NE chowder fan - I prefer clear - but my wife likes the chowder at Union Oyster House, but you may find that too touristy (we do not and enjoy the place). Can’t help with Chinese as I can’t remember any names, but walk thru Chinatown and see what catches your eye.

Can't help with bargain oysters this year but for oysters try Row 34, Select Oyster in Back Bay, and B&G Oyster in the South End.

I like a thinner chowder so I don't usually order it out.

A nice splurge dinner could be at Deuxave.

Everything has changed so much, and I have not been there in a couple of years, but this restaurant was very good, and concentrates on seafood: Ostra.

I hear that "Luke's Lobster" is good, in Back Bay.

Luke's is very casual and I was not impressed by their lobster roll, but I am a fanatic about lobster rolls

It absolutely isn't the "best" of anything. It's a quick service chain.

I just came back from a wonderful experience at Select Oyster Bar

Thanks everyone for your advice and for taking the time to get back to me.

My feedback:

Atlantic Fish: food was nice but service so rushed it’s probably out of my fav list.

Salty Girl was once again lovely (beef tartar, tuna flat bread, salad)

Select Oyster even better: sea bass crudo and oysters sooo delicious can’t wait to be back!

Brownie batter ice cream at JP Leaks to die for.

Thanks again. Love to help with questions about Costa Rica, where I’m from.
