shuttle from Midway Chicago

to grand plaza for 9 ladies. I'm unsure if the metra "EL" is the best solution given their age

There are no Hotel shuttles. Its the "L" or a taxi. The "L" to the Grand Plaza requires a transfer between the orange line and red line trains so a taxi would probably be better. Ask the taxi starter for a van cab.

You'll need two cabs for nine adults. Each cab will be around $40.

"If" you want to take the train:

Orange line to Roosevelt

Transfer to a northbound (towards Howard) red line train.

Get off at Grand.

Fare is $2.25 per person

The 'L' and Metra are separate systems. The rapid transit train from Midway to downtown is the 'L', not Metra.

If you opt for the train, the Orange/Red Line L couldn't be easier. You won't even go outside until you walk the last few feet from the Grand station to your destination. Follow the signs from the Midway terminal that say "CTA Trains to City." Midway is the end of the line, so the trains only go into in one direction.

The Midway, Roosevelt and Grand stations all have elevators and escalators. The trip from Midway would take about an hour. Not to mention there are some great free views of the city from the Orange Line between Halsted and Roosevelt.

If you'll be relying on public transit while you're here, you can purchase day passes at the newsstand in Midway or the rail station. A 1-day pass is $5.50 and a 3-day is $14. They allow unlimited rides on all CTA trains and buses.

If the women in your group have mobility problems, all CTA buses "kneel" and almost all have low-floors. Check the CTA site at www.transitchicago.com for which rail stations have elevators and escalators. On the site, you'll also find a trip planner, just enter your starting point and destination and you'll see the options to get there.

Thanks so much. Is there any place to store carry on bags for 9 ladies since the grand plaza access is 5 hour after arrival

Owner was not helpful. He said no access before 3pm. Is there storage lockers in the Grand subway station?
