Hoping to take a short roadtrip from chicago (maybe 4 or 5 hours ) . we want to go to someplace fun for kids age 5 and 3. Wisconsin dells would have been good, but we just been to waterpark couple of weeks back. SO any suggestion on other fun places to go during this thanksgiving week (Tuesday thru saturday) wuld be much appreciated.

Maybe Greenfield Village and Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI.

St. Louis is about a 4-hour drive from Chicago down I-55. On the way, you could visit Starved Rock, which is reached via a slight diversion on I-80 and I-39. There are the Lincoln sites in Springfield if you think your children are old enough to be interested. Alternatively, there is a nice children's museum in Bloomington-Normal to break up the drive for a couple of hours.

Indianapolis is slightly closer and also has a big children's museum.
