Sept 28-October 6

We are planning a trip to Colorado for September 28-October 6 and hoping to see some fall foliage. We will be coming into Colorado from the south on I-25. Where are the best places for us to travel while in CO to see fall foliage?

Coming from the south on I-25, I would look at areas of the Rio Grande and San Isabel National Forests and the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. At this map for Colorado Scenic Byways, that would include areas along the Highway of Legends, Los Caminos Antiguos, Frontier Pathways, Gold Belt Tour, and Silver Thread. On the map, click on the icons for more details.

Southwest Colorado has already been suggested to you.

Thanks! Since you are a RMNP expert will there be any fall foliage there after the 6th? It will be then before we make it that far north. Also, are there any websites, Facebook pages, etc for the above mentioned National Forests for fall updates?

While there have been some years when the lower elevations of RMNP still had nice color through the first week in October, this year is most likely not going to be one of those.
