Santa Barbara hotels

The Californian hotel v Belmont el. encanto cant make up my mind. Do we need 2 or 3 nights in Santa Barbara?

If just passing through with other destinations following, 2 nights is nice. If going for relaxation as well, shopping and dining, or wine tasting the three nights. If you have the time, it's a wonderful place to spend a holiday!

I'd choose the Californian for its great location near State St and newness. We stay at the Harbor View because we like the location across from the beach, the grounds and views, but not as stylish as the Californian.

In that price range, look at the Four Seasons in Montecito. Gorgeous old place, right on beach.

Belmond El Encanto is too far up the hill. You don't feel like you are in Santa Barbara at all. Only the patio dining saved them. But that's only a few hours a day? I would stay closer to the action (State Street) and the beach. And you can still drive to have dinner at Belmond El Encanto.

El Encanto would be my choice! It is a stunning luxury property. 🏖
