Sedona and the Grand Canyon with elderly person

My mother, a friend and I are planning a trip to Arizona in October 2018. We will begin our journey in Phoenix and are planning on hitting Sedona, possibly Flagstaff (but not as important) and the GC. We will arrive on the 19th and be able to head north the afternoon of the 20th or the morning of the 21st. We plan on flying back to Florida on the 24th.

My mother is 85 and uses a walker. She cannot walk a huge amount so I am seriously considering getting her a wheelchair for the trip. It is on her bucket list to see the Grand Canyon so that is a must. What recommendations do you have for visiting these areas?

My thought is the 21st and the morning of the 22nd in Sedona, the evening of the 22nd in the park and the heading back to Phoenix on the afternoon of the 23rd.

Thanks!

The Best Western in Sedona has a huge plaza terrace deck. Great place just to enjoy the views. Coffee/tea available nearby.

For Grand Canyon get a scenic drive accessibility pass

You can rent a wheelchair at the GC. We walked the rim Trail from Yavapai Geology Museum to El Tovar. (Trail of time.). It was a good walk pushing grandpa-- we took turns pushing. We took out time, stopped a lot to enjoy the view, had snack, checked out the rocks.

Grandpa really enjoyed staying on the rim. (Getting in and out of vehicles is challenging for him)

We have not yet, I am looking at renting a house in Flagstaff and commuting between Sedona and the park.

Commuting from Flagstaff is a bad plan. Better to stay in Sedona and Grand Canyon National Park.
