The 'Kalman Imre' sleeper train uses nice Hungarian rolling stock, and I've always found it very good.
It has comfortable and carpeted 1, 2 & 3 bed sleeper compartments with washbasin, and 4 and 6 bunk couchettes.
From €49 with couchette, from €79 or so with a bed in a cosy 2-bed sleeper, morning tea or coffee included.
You can book it at either www.mavcsoport.hu or www.bahn.de/en - the latter is easier, with print-at-home tickets, the former a bit more fiddly, tickets collected from the self-service machines in Budapest, but can be cheaper.
