Plant Protein Powder /Health Food Store

I walked into TempleFit this morning hoping they would sell or know a seller (Health Food type store) that sells Plant Protein Powder. No luck. Does anyone who lives in Budapest know the location of a Health Food Store. For those living in the States, who frequent Budapest something along the lines of Hi-Health or Whole Foods. TempleFit has Whey powder, but I prefer Plant Protein.

We're fairly certain we have seen this product at a chain store called Medi-Line here in town. However, I could not locate the product anywhere on there website.

We did locate a store linked below that shows the product:

"TempleFit has Whey powder, but I prefer Plant Protein."

Why ? I get my nutrients from real food, protein is easy anywhere, massively so in Budapest a meat / fish eating culture ... sure veg and fresh salad is at a premium (unless overcooked in soup and főzelék), but abundant local fresh fruit ...

Nothing was saod about abandoning fresh fruit. Using plant protein cut down my consumption of carbohydrates at breakfast in particular. I prefer to avoif meat when possible and therefore I Use plant protein.

Greyhound, how about two runny (soft poached) eggs on salad for breakfast - protein plus ?

Do you eat fish (?) otherwise your time in Budapest is likely to be sparse on the cullinary aspect ...

Are you on a diet ?

You could try Amazon but prices look ridiculously steep (mostly US suppliers).

Laura, why try and convert him to what you think is an appropriate source of protein? Can we not just respect each other and what food we like? He might not like eggs or may even be allergic. Plant powder is a,great source of protein for people on specific diets, or simply for those who are health conscious and prefer it to buttery croissants. From his posts it's known that Greyhound visited Budapest several times before for 6-8 weeks at a time so he knows what's on offer in terms of food options.

Timea, I know "Greyhound" is a great authority on visiting Budapest.

Never spotted that he didn't do many restaurant reviews on account of his (her ?) limited food preferences ...

But powdered protein / protein drinks was the stuff my step-dad was on in the months before the cancer took him,

I always equate the product as for either the sick or for bodybuilders / athletes, not my healthy "low calorie" way of topping up on protein - eggs, milk, limited cheese, prawns, fish, venison, lean grilled steak or chicken.

All that of course goes out of the window on holiday with my relatives cooking and exploring Budapest restaurants ...

Laura-Eva, thank you for your concern for my situation. I was at my doctor a specialist in Endocrinology at UCLA in Los Angeles and we discussed my diet and she was ok with my using the plant protein. I am on a diet of about 90% plant which includes fruit and vegtables. The real thing not powdered. I only eat meats when I am in a restuarant. This is all in an effort to control my carbohydrates. It works for me. At home in the states I have the powerdered protein drink in the morning for breakfast and sometimes for Lunch. Dinner is always a salad of fresh veggies. Much of my diet is what is known as microbiotic, one of the root veggies I use is Jicama which is not found in stores here in Hungary. Consequently I use Keifer which is a yogurt like product filled with many useful bacteria. Anyway I do appreciate your concern.

You are trying to control your carbohydrates so you don't eat meat? But you do eat fruit? and Kefir? errr.... I tried to control my carbs once - gave up fruits and replaced them with bacon and eggs. Lost 30 pounds, lowered my blood sugar, cholesterol and triglycerides....

I'm being a bit facetious...I gave up soda and ice cream and fries as well...but bacon and eggs has a whole lot less carbs than kefir.

I hate to question your doctor...but I'd be happy to share a slew of resources including endocrinologists from Harvard and UCSD. It's obvious to me we suffer from the same malady.

Cpfoutz- my endocrinologist is very good and I drink less than 8 ounces of kefir a day mixed with almond milk. I am allergic to eggs and I do not eat bacon. As I said I eat meat in restaurants and chucken. No pork. At home I eat salad and I have the almond milk, kefir and powder. My A1-c is checked every 3 months and is stable at 6.3. So the exercise and diet I use is sufficient.

You do know carbohydrate is plant matter? It is what plants produce through photosynthesis. You should be skipping salads and milk, because that is the most abundant source of carbohydrates.
