road trip from the UK to Slovenia

We're planning on doing a road trip from the UK to Slovenia early September this year in our campervan. We drove to Southern Spain last year so have any idea of what to expect in terms of cost of diesel etc but realize that the route to Slovenia may not be as straight forward travelling this way across Europe. Has anyone got any advice or tips on the best route that will allow the best sights, campsites or 'stop-overs', safety tips etc. Absolutely any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks :-)

Hi there!

While in Slovenia you must visit Lake Bled of course and stay at Camping Bled, www.camping-bled.com

Camping is also popular in the beautiful Soca Valley from Tolmin up to Bovec like at: http://www.camp-vili.si/english/welcome.htm

There's plenty to keep you busy all around the Triglav National Park!

Also check: http://en.camping.info/slovenia

Hi,

I'm Slovene now living in UK(north east) and I travel each year to Slovenia by car. For me is an easy trip, take me 18 hours driving with stop over usually in Germany. Never had any problems regarding safety and traveling in continental Europe for me is far better and quicker then in UK. One point you must be careful, that you must buy vignette(toll sticker) for driving on motorways in Austria and Slovenia. Fines a high and you must pay in spot. Diesel is cheaper over there, especially in Luxembourg. I always fill full tank there, it last till Ljubljana with no problem. Best you plan your trip on viamichelin.co.uk for best route for you. If you have time I recommend to visit Grosglockner Pass in Austria. It cost 25Euro for all day.
