Another question about getting to/from Ljubljana
Save

Ok so we arrive in Ljubljana by train. We need to get to Lake Bled. We know we can take a bus but we are not inclined to do this with our bags and also to be on the bus for 90 minutes or so with other folks. We’re vaccinated Americans but are trying to be super careful since we will have to be tested before return to the US and don’t want an exposure which could result in a forced quarantine. So, what are our options? Taxi cost? At least a taxi we will just have one other person, can wear masks and open the windows. I’m sure it will be expensive. Is there a car service? Uber? Or a local train with more spacing ? Thanks for any help

When are you arriving in Ljubljana? That's important because there's some construction work going on on the Ljubljana - Jesenice train line (that's the line Bled is on). And it's scheduled to finish next week. Until then the trains run on a reduced schedule and are replaced by buses in some cases.

In any case, the Bled train station is located about 4 miles out of town, so you'll probably need a taxi regardless.

Arrival in about 3 weeks. So if we train to Bled will that be from the same station we arrive at from Graz? And will there be a taxi at the Bled train station? Thanks for your help.

There are buses from Lesce-Bled train station to the centre of town if you're happy with that.

If your train from Graz arrives at the main Ljubljana train station, then you'll have no problems connecting to the train to Lesce-Bled (just change platforms) . If you change your mind about the bus, the bus station is out the front of the train station (buy a ticket before boarding, at the bus ticket office). In a normal world, most people seem to prefer the bus because it goes to the centre of Bled.

If you would like to avoid buses then the only other logical solution is either rent a car or you can use prevoz.org, where random people who by chance go to a certain place also take others (like more organized hitch hiking where you call the person first).- unless there are more than 3 of you :)

Private transfer GoOpti is an option. It is a reliable company and the route Ljubljana train station - Bled is not too costly.

I used GoOpti for longer distances, such as Venice airport - Rijeka, Croatia and it was always dependable.

You can check GoOpti website (shuttle company) and they will send you their offer.

Also you could take a taxi from the airport to Flixbus station in Zagreb and from there a Flixbus bus to come to Ljubljana by bus.

If you would like to have a price to compare, also you can send me a personal message, where I can give you and offer for the transfer.
