Long Weekend in Szczecin - Things to do?

I'm planning a four day break in Szczecin with my partner. We are both early twenties and students and have landed the flights and accomodation for less than £120 each.

In the daytimes we know to visit some of the cultural sights such as the castle and Pionier cinema and museums, but we are also looking for other exciting activities that we can participate in, like clay pigeon shooting, horse back riding or vodka tasting. Open to sugesstions if you have any!

In the evenings we will be dining and looking to hit some nightlife, again open to sugestions :)

Finally, we are looking to keep this fairly cost effective. Does anybody know what taxi fares are like for a half hour distance between airpot and hotel? And likewise for a ten minute journey from hotel to Szczecin centre?

Cant wait to hear your sugestions :) and many thanks.

Taxi fares from Szczecin Airport are rather expensive

You may use other means of transport, check under "public Transport", "LOT Minibus", etc on this site.

Hi Sinead!

With a 4 day break I would definitely suggest getting away from the city - at least for one day - and heading to the Baltic Sea coast for a change of scenery and to see those rural parts of Poland that usual "city-break'ers" (if that's even a word;) ) wouldn't get a chance to see. If you're visiting in the spring/ summer months, the easiest way to get to the seaside would be by hopping on a train and getting off at one of the well-known resorts like Miedzyzdroje, Swinoujscie or Wolin. In the warmer months, the trains to the coast depart every 2 hours or so and it takes approx. 1h30min to get to Miedzyzdroje or 2hrs to Swinoujscie; all in all it can be easily done as a day trip, done it myself loads of times.

For fees and train timetables go to:

When it comes to other local attractions, I would also suggest some sort of boat trip (there are even catamaran trip to the likes of Swinoujscie - that's if you prefer a catamaran trip to the coast instead of the train), a bit of kayaking if the weather permits and some nice walks in one of the city parks (Rose Garden, Kasprowicza Park); after all Szczecin is known as the 'green city'.

For details on events planned in Szczecin check out the below links (in Polish but can be translated into English in Google):

Any questions - let us know!
