Euro Rate in Ayia Napa

Hi due to fly out at the beginning of July.

Wondering what the current rate is as travel agent keeps saying it's better in the UK, but think they just want to make more money.

Thanks

Do you get charged any commission when changing over money into Euros? Will be looking to change around £2000

Just that in Turkey last year I exchanged around £1500 and got ripped off by around £100 but didn't realise til too late!

I've got exactly the same problem.

I want to change my GBP into Euros in Ayia Napa but i'm not sure how many places there actually are around to change money up??

Or where the best place would be to go?

=/ hmm

there are loads of places to change them. The rate looks to be going down. back at 1.19 yesterday.

the best rates are usually from the old guy in the kiosk opposite mcdonalds. Titanas travel on nissi avenue is also similar. stop & go kiosk on the traffic lights is open pretty much all the time and the souvenie shop on the traffic lights also changes money.

on top of that there are at least 10 banks plus all the hotels although the banks and hotels often charge commission.

The best thing financially is to take as much sterling (cash) as you think you'll need and change it out there (so long as you're not the sort who loses their wallet!). We took £1,000 each for 2 weeks as we were only staying half-board and we had some left at the end. Shop around the shops and kiosks advertising exchange rates for the best rate but it will always be much better than you'd get in the UK at the same point in time. Avoid banks, etc as you'll get less euros for your money. There's no discount for larger amounts so don't change too much or you'll lose out when you change it back. You can always change more any time you need to. Don't be confused by goods advertised in euros and pounds because that's the old Cyprus pound and don't be tempted to pay by card if you can avoid it.
