If it's anything like Egypt & Tunisia you don't need a license BUT you do need insurance for risky sports as you won't be covered over there. There have been tv stories & forum stories on the Egyptian TA) about folk being in deep doo-doo when they've had an accident on a 250cc quad abroad.

Someof these may help:

My husband works in a quad/scooter hire shop in Ayia Napa and you definitely do need a licence. They will not be able to hire anything without one as it is the law.

My daughter hired one a few years ago in Greece without a licence and without telling me! Your daughter would be foolish to do so but I'm afraid you can't tell your kids anything. As a mum I don't want to alarm you but in experienced hands they are great fun and an easy way to travel round Ayia Napa etc but in inexperienced hands the damned things can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing with them. Make sure you check her insurance to see she is adequately covered. You don't say how old she is but they may well not let her have one without a licence.
