What to do in Mooloolaba?

We are 40ish couple with 4 kids ages 16, 12, 7 and 6. Can anyone suggest any attraction or activities for us to spent 3 nights at Moololaba or Sunshine Coast?

EM, I asked Omaryati to move his question here - we were previously on the Moreton Island forum. So far I have suggested :

1 night Brisbane - to get over flight

1 night Moreton

3 remaining nights - Mooloolaba

Now Omaryati - in what order you do these stays is up to you. There a few things that may help you decide, as I dont know what day/night of the week you arrive.

I have suggested Moolloolaba as it is close to several attractions and central to others.Look for accommodation on www.wotif.com.au - you should be able to pick up a good deal.My pick of activities for your stay would be;

Australia Zoo

Underwater World

Eumundi Markets - these are about 30 minutes north of Moooloolaba and are only on Wednesdays & Saturdays. They are considered possibly the best in the country. There are heaps of food stalls and camel rides amongst other things.

Yandina Ginger Factory (optional) - very close to Eumundi.

Noosa Beach & National Park - Eumundi is 10 minutes inland from Noosa. You could combine Noosa,Eumundi & Yandina all on the same day by doing a loop.

Horse riding

We rode at www.mooloolahvalley.com.au last weekend and loved it. They cater for all ages/experience levels. Our 8 yr old son wont stop talking about it.

It is very close to Australia Zoo and could be dont on the same day.

If for some strange reason you have time left over you can drive up the range to the lovely country villages of Montville and Maleny. Lots of galleries & cafes, a couple of wineries and a cheese factory. Perhaps a bit too sedate for the kids ?

hope that makes sense ?

Good Suggestions above.

I would add the Ettamogah Pub for lunch and Aussie World next door which has rides and other Australiana.

It is quite close to Australia Zoo.

We will be arriving Brisbane on the 18 June in the wee hours at 0040 hours so will spent the night in Brisbane.

Our itenary then are as follows:

18 to 21 June at Mooloolaba

21 to 23 June at Tangalooma

The reason we stayed Tangalooma last is cos we can have a late check out. Our return flight is at 0245 hours on the 24 June.

Can anyone recommend any accomodation for 6 pax ( 2 adults and 4 kids ) at Mooloolaba? Would it better for me to rent a car to move around in Mooloolaba?

Definately rent a car - you need one just to get there really . Remember we are all spread out down here - not like Singapore.

As previously mentioned have a look at www.wotif.com.au - it is the site we all use to book our accom and is very user friendly with great rates. There are numerous places that will accomodate 6 people - your budget will mostly dictate which one you choose.

Our travel agent is planning of putting us at Mantra Mooloolaba. Any comments? Any recommendations for car rental company?

The Mantra Mooloolaba beach is fantastic, I imagine that you will be in a 3 bedroom unit with all the kids. These are on the upper levels with uninterrupted sea views. There is also Mantra Sirocco and Mantra Zanzibar. The Zanzibar is mare central but the pool area and parking is not as good. The Mantra Mooloolaba beach offers wide frontages as opposed to a narrow frontage at the Zanzibar.

There is a small shopping centre directly behind the Mantra Mooloolaba beach as well as an indoor heated pool and outdoor pool and spa areas. There is ample parking underneath and you are close to everything.

It is a very easy drive on a major highway, there will be very little traffic and it will take you approximately 80 minutes, assuming you are staying in/near the CBD.

The Mantra is an excellent choice as Oscar has said - particularly with its indoor heated pool for winter.
