Driving from Central Coast to Bathurst

Looking for points of interest along the way and is there a loop to be driven instead of same road, just for a weekend drive.

The easiest and fastest way would be to head towards Sydney and turn right at West Pennant Hills and then head to Richmond and cross the Blue Mountains via Bell's Line of Road.

Variations? Use the Great Western Highway via Katoomba (join the M2 at West Pennant Hills, then the M5 as far as the Light Horse Interchange). Or head to Mangrove Mountain and take the road to Wiseman's Ferry, thence to Windsor and Richmand and up the Bell's Line of Road. Or, a very long way round, head up to Singleton, thence Mudgee to Bathurst.

While you are there drive the racetrack, but don't speed as every radar gun in NSW seems to be down Conrod Straight. Gives you an awesome feel about what the Bthurst race is about.

Jetson, there's another route you could use to make it more of a round trip. A road heads from Sandy Hollow in the upper Hunter, thru Bylong, Rylstone, Kandos, Ilford and Sofala to Bathurst. There's about 50km of dirt road on it, but it's perfectly OK, very scenic and a road less-travelled. Take a map!

I use it occasionally if I'm heading from Brisbane to Melbourne and want to avoid Sydney at a bad time of day. However, it's not a road for cruising at 100kph.
