Trip to The Pinnacles

Hi! I am planning a trip to Perth and to visit the Nambung national park

Any recommendations of the closest and most convenient places/hotels/towns to stay near the national park since i am driving from Perth and would like to stay overnight?

Also, how is the drive from Perth to the national park, dangerous or safe?

Thanks in advance

The drive from Perth is fine as long as you drive carefully and in daylight. Most of the accidents along that stretch are caused by tired drivers or idiots trying to overtake when it isn't safe to do so.

But really, there's not a lot else to occupy you in the area so unless you're planning to take sunset photos (which would necessitate an overnight stay to avoid dodging kangaroos all the way back to Perth) there's no real reason to stay overnight. The drive is just a little over two hours so this can easily be a day trip.

If you do want to stay, the only nearby town is Cervantes.

Ceravntes is very sweet and you could also visit the stromatolites, en route, which doesn't take long but they are incredible. Or, if you're into it, go sandboarding too!

Keep in mind that facilities are limited in very small rural towns.

Cervantes is a very small fishing town, no hotels - just a caravan park and one or two BnBs I think. The nearest town with a small country motel is probably Jurien Bay.

Yes, I wouldn’t have recommended Cervantes if I wasn’t sure there is accommodation there.

There’s also the Lobster Lodge http://www.lobsterlodge.com.au/ which is a budget accommodation but seemed nice enough when we stopped there for afternoon tea.
