Treasury Hotel on Collins St

Just wondering if this hotel is in a good location for walking or taking public transit to attractions throughout central Melbourne? Or if you have better suggestions, we're paying $230A nightly in November so something in that range would be our choice. Thanks.

I have not stayed at Treasury on Collins, but I have stayed near there, and I think it is a good location. I found that from that area, you can walk to all of the main attractions in the CBD and Southbank, and I did not need to use the tram at all.

Unless that rate is on a Friday or Saturday, I feel it’s particularly poor value for an average property, compared to what is available across the market.

Using some arbitrary Sundays and Mondays in April, the likes of Crown Promenade and Crown Metropol are showing discounted rates on par, Novotel on Collins is showing rates below, and also the likes of Sheraton and also Quay West are barely $15/night above that rate.

I personally would reconsider

Treasury Hotel on Collins St is an excellent central location for both walking to places like Flinders Lane and Hardware Lane for dining out and Bourke St Mall for shopping, and the tram. Bonus its in the Free Tram zone.

We stayed at this hotel in January when we were there for the Australian Open tennis (click on my profile for review) & were really happy with it. I'd not stayed in this area before but found it great in terms of restaurants nearby, tram stop proximity & 5 min walk to shops. I also loved the boutique feel, I like small hotels with character rather than big modern hotels.

Previously we've stayed at Ovolo Laneways which is similar in some ways & in my favourite part of Melbourne- the European end. Unfortunately their rates during the tennis this year were too high for us so that's why we chose Treasury On Collins. Could be worth checking Ovolo Laneways for your dates (their best rates are usually via their own website)

Agree that the location is excellent but as mentioned by KVE, you obviously could do better (KVE is our resident hotel expert on Trip Advisor and I would certainly take his advice if he gave it to me) Hope this helps.
