if i travel from southern cross station to queen victoria market, do i need a myki ticket, is it consider free tram zone?
Both destinations are in the Free Tram Zone.
It’s free but it means two trams to get all the way there. Much simpler to walk, its only about 15 minutes.
Depending on which end of Sthn Cross you come out - head to the first stop on Collins St and get on an 11, 12, 48 or 109, or head to first stop on Bourke St and get on an 86 or 96.
Get off at the William St or Elizabeth St stops on any of those trams. Catch any trams on those streets going north and they will have stops at the markets. All within free tram zone.
Download the tramtracker ap so you can see and follow the routes and stops.
Neville, some would prefer the two trams. I have some mobility issues, and two trams are much easier than what would be for me a 25 minute walk.
Sorry YF I was just trying to offer an alternative.
H Fun if you had a look at the map at reply #1 you would see the free tram zone just covers the city centre, not St Kilda. You need a Myki card with funds loaded. It’s a short walk across to Swanston St from the market for a tram to St Kilda.Edited: 21 March 2018, 08:52
Hi, Yes, saw the map but couldn’t quite figure it out. Thanks for your very helpful pointers.
No worries. It's worth getting into using Google maps for your planning and info.
