Are the shops open during the Easter long weekend? Any recommended places I can visit?
I imagine you would like Chadstone shopping centre, Bourke street Mall
Their websites will have their Easter opening hours
Myriad other things to see & do. https:/…guide-to-melbourne.html
Having no idea of your interests, it’s a bit pointless making recommendations that might bore you to sobsEdited: 18 March 2018, 08:47
Shops are closed Good Friday. Open every other day.
Quite a few shops remain open on Good Friday here Perthite - unlike in Perth. (positively advanced ;) )
Markets are closed.
OP places like the Aquarium and Zoo are open 365 days a year. Docklands Star - the big observatory wheel is open 365 days. Also Eureka Skydeck https://www.eurekaskydeck.com.au all year round.
This is a partial list showing opening times for a fair few shops and shopping centres, and cafes etc.
The Easter Show is on http://www.melbourneeastershow.com.au
Crown is closed from 4am and re-opens 12 noon.
GPO - shopping mall in the Bourke St Mall looks like it is closed on the friday http://www.melbournesgpo.com/centre-hours/
ACMI at federation sq is open on the Friday http://fedsquare.com/shopvisit/acmi
And of course all the parks are always open.
Yes many shops are open on Sunday, unless they are regularly closed on that day. Some may have shorter opening hours.
#3 PP I visited over Easter some years back and Good Friday there were no shops open in the CBD, only cafes. Southbank was pumping. I see you have stated that Bourke St Mall is closed plus looking at the link showing what is open, I'd think the same amount of shops are open there as here. Good Friday is as much a shopping day as Chridstmas Day, whether you be in Melbourne or Perth. :-)Edited: 20 March 2018, 04:21
You might enjoy the Good Friday Appeal at the Convention Centre. A fun day out especially if you have kids.
<<<I see you have stated that Bourke St Mall is closed>>>
No I said the GPO - a big shopping mall - is closed. It's located in Bourke St Mall. Bourke st is as wide open as it always is.
My apologies PP.
Most shops are closed on Good Friday.... open other days unless, like stated in previous replies they are usually closed on those days
