Fishing/Fish Farm

Hi there

I am hoping one of you very knowledgable destination experts are able to help me with a suggestion for a fish farm or lakes where you can catch some fish yourself.

Years ago we visited one when we were staying in Huonville where we caught our own salmon and trout with the help of some magic "fish chocolate".

This visit we are spending the majority of our upcoming holiday staying with family near Launceston and would love to take our little boy somewhere we can hire all the gear and where he can fish and hopefully have a high chance of catching something to take home for dinner.

Thanks so much in advance.

Tasmania Zoo on the north western edge of the city was originally established as a fishery, but no longer advertises the fact. It may be worth a direct enquiry: http://www.tasmaniazoo.com.au/

Old Mac's off Elphin Road in suburban Newstead is a catch & purchase fishery: http://www.oldmacsfarmandfishery.com.au/

And if all else fails, you can buy fresh salmon at 41South at Deloraine: http://www.41southtasmania.com/

Old Mac's is probably your best bet for a youngster.
