For 2 nights, I'd stay in the CBD or Southbank so you can experience the cuty. You can take the train from the airport tinge city centre.

It's hard to recommend places without knowing your budget?

So about $155? (Most posters are Australian,so use AUD not GBP).

That's quite low for Australia and won't get you the "best" as per your title. You're looking for budget.

Suggest you use booking.com or Accor and search for your dates and number of people and filter for your budget.cone back with your short list and we can advise which is best for location etc

In the city close to Roma street station where the Airtrain arrives from the airport I’d look at Ibis Hotel in Turbot street. I was first going to suggest Hotel Jen right next to Roma street, then I saw your budget. Depending on dates Hotel Jen might be more than $155 for 2 adults and a 13 year old, check prices.

www.booking.com for price/choices (your budget is low). Late December is our school holidays so prices rise and choice can be limited in Noosa.

If Sydney for NYE then start looking/planning now.

Definitely head into the CBD/Southbank on arrival. Stsying at the airport leaves you in an airport/light indutrial area, so not lovely.

You can hire a car right in the CBD, but you might not want it until uou leave Brisbane - there is a public bus at goes directly to Lone Pine, and everything else is walkable/easy on Public transport. As well, CBD parking will add a huge amount to your hotel costs.

Cheers.
