I am going to the manchester united game at olympic park and was wondering if the train is the best way to get there? Looking at staying at the Swissotel and was wondering if thats close to a train station? We wont have a car

Thanks

There's a train station at Olympic Park.

For special events the trains run directly from Central.

From the Swissotel you can get a train from Town Hall to Central, then change trains. Just follow the crowds in red.

Often for special events, the cost of train fares is included in the ticket price - not sure about this one. You'd have to check your tickets.

Overseas tickets include transfers.

if you have a package from Hobart it "may" include transfers.

They will run direct trains as the do for NRL matches.

Swissotel in Market St is 1 block from Town Hall Station. You can access the arcades that lead into Town Hall station via QVB (Queen Victoria Bldg) which is diaganally opposite Myer which adjoins your hotel.

If you already have your tix to the game, it will say if the ticket includes publis transport to the event. If so, no need to buy a train ticket.

As others have indicated, direct trains usually run from central to olympic park station (allow 30 mins) & central is one stop from town hall.- you'll need to change trains at central.

Check the cityrail website - www.cityrail.com.au closer to the event to confirm the direct train. If no direct trains, you will have to get from town hall to Lidcome station (possible change at Strathfield) and from Lidcombe get the Olympic Park Sprint Service. If you have to go this way its best to get towards the back of the train as it reduces the walk at Lidcombe station.

Enjoy the game, ball is the wrong shape for me.

Why not stay at Olympic Park? Ibis, Novotel and Pullman all right across the street from the stadium.

It's not a bad suggestion provided they're coming to Sydney for just one night and the game. Anymore than that, and it's not really an attractive option.

Vicki if you read Spuddy's other post he's looking for restaurants and shopping too. Not really in the Olympic Park precinct and please don;t say DFO :(

With the game on it will be 2x the price at Olympic park(if anything is available at all)
