Melbourne in August with three young school aged kids

I'd love recommendations of things to do with children in Melbourne.

I've googled and found things but I'd love to hear from the Tripadvisor community.

Kids are 5, 6, and 7. I know weather will be cold and damp (for this SoCal family!) but business has taken my husband there so we are tagging along.

TIA!

You have probably found a list like this already:

IMO, a must Do is a day or overnight trip by car or train to Ballarat to visit Sovereign Hill - outdoor living museum. The whole family will love it.

I also hope you will have time to do a long weekend GOR road trip as a family too.

Cheers.

+1 for Sovereign Hill.

If you are around on a Sunday, have a look at this: https://www.dvr.com.au

Also would suggest taking the kids to Scienceworks, and you might want to take a look at the Melbourne Museum website and see if there's any exhibitions on they might like. Philip Island is a nice daytrip, as is Healesville Sanctuary, but I'd pick Healesville over Philip Island for kids that age and in this weather

Some great ideas so far. I like Sweetbuiscuits list. It should keep you busy for the next 12 months.
