Hotels in Hora Sfakion

there seem to be a number of small hotels, most of which are not listed on Trip Advisor, are they all pretty much the same, or do any of them stand out above the rest?

we'll be staying there one night May 2017.

Thanks.

Due to the size of Chora Sfakion several of the hotels are situated in more or less the same area i.e. at the port. Apart from that the hotels are quite different.

Stavris, which you've seen in the link 71gimn gave you, is set a little above the village, with lovely views of the sea and mountains. I've stayed there, and can recommend it.

Other possibilities are:

Alkyon: http://www.hotel-alkyon-sfakia-crete.com/

Lefka Ori: http://www.chora-sfakion.com/index.php?p=1

Xenia: http://www.sfakia-xenia-hotel.gr/en/

Alkyon and Lefka Ori are on the front, both have good tavernas. Xenia is beautifully situated at the western end of the village, nearest to the beach, and probably a little quieter than the other two, though nowhere in Sfakia is going to be noisy. The Xenia has recently been completely refurbished; it's a bit more upscale than the others, and probably a bit more expensive.

yea those are all the ones I looked at. I was thinking either the Stavris or Lefka Ori.

As far as I know Alkyon belongs to Stavris (they bought it around 4 or 5 years ago). It doesn't have a restaurant.

Yes, I'm sure you're right, Jean. The last time I had lunch at Alkyon was - I daren't try to remember when, but it was at least 10 years ago. So I'm out of date. I didn't realise they'd abandoned the restaurant when Stavris took it over.

Three Brothers is a good choice, Brent, and unless Lefka Ori have also given up cooking :0) it's a good choice too.

Alkyon was closed for many years before it got bought by Stavris which is why there was no restaurant any more. Lefka Ori is still cooking strong with Andreas still at the helm.
