San Rocco to San Fruttuoso

There are two hiking routes from San Rocco to San Fruttuoso, one that is over the sea and the other that is inland. Having taken the one over the sea, I do not wish to have a repeat of that harrowing experience. I would, however, like to take the other, inland route if it does not have the cliffside, holding-onto-the-chain-for-dear-life necessity. Can someone tell me what the inland route is like? Is it a reasonable hike, and are hiking poles necessary? Thanks for any news, good or bad. I I note that hitting the hill that overlooks the fishing village is an exquisite event, akin to seeing Machu Picchu spread below you from the Inca Trail overlook.

I have never done it, but it looks reasonable: portofinotrek.com/trek/trail-map/26-portofin… + portofinotrek.com/trek/trail-map/33-san-rocc…
