Gudvangen boat

We're planning a trip to Norway and want to see Gudvangen. We would like to take a boat to see some of the Fjord (round-trip, not one way). However, we don't know a few things. First of all, what boat company should we take, to have a nice view and good service, at a reasonable price? Do we need to reserve in advance? If we don't reserve in advance, are there boats we can take as a "walk-in"? And if we have to reserve in advance, what if on the day we reserved it's raining whereas maybe the day we didn't reserve, the weather is nice?

The most popular boat trip from Gudvangen is the passenger ferry to Flåm operated by Fjord1: fjord1.no/eng/…flam-gudvangen2 From Flåm you may return to Gudvangen with a local bus. Advance booking is not necessary.

Sognefjorden Fjord Sightseeing offer the same itinerary as a "tour": visitflam.com/sognefjorden/… For this tour, advance booking is required.

Otherwise I don't think there is much difference between the two options.
