October fall color roadtrip

We are planning a color tour in early October and are making Traverse City one of our stops along the way. Is there a must see area for changing trees? Wanting to know what is there to do for just an evening here? We like wine, beer and music :) Thanks!

M-22 from Suttons Bay, up and over the Leelanau Peninsula down to Sleeping Bear Dunes would be my recommendation for a color tour in the Traverse City area.

Suydam gave a pretty good suggestion. A lot of wineries up there too. Music can likely be found downtown Traverse City but I dont know where. 'Bands in town' is a great app to get to show all the bands playing whereever you are.

We would be happy to help more if wanted with the rest of your trip. Does not sound like time will be on your side but there are a lot of overlooks (including ski resort fall tour hours) in northern Michigan as well. If we can be of more help please let us know.

As for beer... Hop Lot Brewing Company in Suttons Bay is a great "mostly outdoor" brewery on M-22. As you mentioned beer, that's a great place to stop and have a pint outdoors, in a great location. The wineries will have better leaf-viewing though, so grab a Leelanau Wine Trail Map and explore https://www.lpwines.com/maps/
