Traveling from Siena to the coast

Traveling from Siena to the coast

Looking to spend the day on the beach but I know the train and bus are ohours long. We ar not fond of driving. Is it possible to hire a taxi to Castiglione Della Pescaia from Siena? What should we expect to pay?

It is some 100 km from Siena to Castiglione Della Pescaia. I would expect that a return journey by taxi would cost at least €200 plus a substantial amount for waiting time.

Agree with Sydneynick, don't go. The beaches are off season and not worth visiting now. I would have thought that renting a car and exploring the countryside and towns around Siena would be much more worthwhile. Why are you there?

Of course you may be talking about doing this in some other season. In which case the beach merits more than a day trip!

Are you here now and thinking of going to the beach? You must be very hardy if you are! Seriously, don't bother, it's a long way, it will be an expensive trip and so many places will be closed no anyway.

Thanks for the reply. We will be going in June. There are 10 of us and we're trying to find the most economical way of getting there and back while allowing for a good full day there. Hiring a car and driver seems to be the best way but thought maybe a taxi would work too.
