Dog friendly beach

Hi there

Can anyone recommend a dog friendly sandy beach near Weymouth where dogs can go off lead?

I don't think there are any where they can go off lead. Try searching "dog friendly Dorset".

Most beaches are completely off limits for dogs during the warmer part of the year - roughly Easter to the end of September.

Bowleaze Cove is probably closest. If it's fine we go to Cogden (sand/shingle), to the west of Chesil Beach, but it's a way without a car. Don't let your dog into the sea on Chesil if there's a surf running or during spring tides or next time you see it, it'll be barking with a Belgian accent.

Have a look at this site:

Durdle Door, heading westwards away from the crowds, is a great place but it's a steep walk back to the car park (for the humans!).

You can have dogs on the beach in Weymouth at the Pavillion end (harbour end) all year round and off the lead too! It is Sandy and your dog can go in the water. This is the Dog Section of the beach and it is well sign posted.
