Stegastein Viewpoint

Hello, I'm visiting Norway in mid May 2016.

1) For the Stegastein viewpoint tour, must it be starting from and ending at Flam? Can I board and alight the tour bus at Aurland instead? Is the price the same?

2) What is the best timing in 3rd week of May to visit Stegastein viewpoint as not to face the sun when taking the photo towards the viewing deck and fjord? Morning, afternoon or late afternoon?

3) Does the Bergen - Lillehammer Norway express bus drop passenger off at at the Stegastein viewpoint? How tough it is to walk down the road to Aurland after that?

Thank you in advance.

1) Ask the tourist office.

2) You could check on GoogleMaps yourself. You'll be looking from SW to NW over the fjord, perhaps mainly NW along the fjord so I guess in the morning when the sun is in the east to south would be best, but late enough so that the sunlight reaches down in the fjord.

1) You can go from Aurland or Flam - it's the same bus, departs from Flam and picks up in Aurland on the way. You can book here, select either Flam - Stegastein - Flam or Aurland - Stegastein - Aurland in the drop down box:

It is about 8km between Flåm and Aurland and 6km from Aurland to Stegastein. Also,Stegastein is about 670 m high, so it is hard for you if you are not enough strong.

Aurlandtaxi(the smallest one)

's price is about NOK 140 for 6 km(from 06:00-18:00,Monday to Friday if don't stop)

Hi, thank you for the taxi info. Is the Aurlandtaxi easily available by the street?

These places are tiny villages, taxis dont drive around hoping for passengers. You have to order or go to the taxi stand.
