Beer at Heuringer? A crazy question?

Okay.... maybe this is a crazy question, but is it ever possible to be able to purchase beer at a Heuringer. We are hoping to visit one, but one member of our group is strictly a beer drinker. Would he ever be permitted to take one of his own in? Not sure how alcohol laws are but in my province in Canada, it would not be permitted.

One does not take its own drinks to a restaurant. Bigger and more touristic Heurige sell beer. Smaller traditional ones might not.

Yes I have seen beer in bigger heurigen. I don’t usually recommend Grinzing, but you’ll probably find beer more widely available in the ones there.

It's a question of whether they have a license for a restaurant (which I wouldn't consider a Heurigen anymore) or not. The former serve beer, coke, coffee, etc., the latter don't. As Norman mentioned the touristy Heurigen in Grinzing might be your best bet.

Bringing beverages or any kind of food into a restaurant is an absolute No-Go!
