Luna Holiday Complex

Hi, I am heading out to Malta next week for two weeks with my wife and two sons. We are staying at the Luna Holiday Complex in Mellieha.

Any advice? Any events on that will be worth attending?

Kind regards

Ross

It's certainly a busy time down at the beach. Mellieha is packed presently.

15th August is a main public holiday here when all resorts are at peak capacity. (Santa Marija)

Perhaps get over to Mosta for the evening of 14th August - main festa evening with fireworks.

The heat is fierce around noon so best head for shade then.

As said the santa marija takes place while you are there, as suggested mosta is a good place for that.

Must sees are Valletta, mdina, Rabat, mosta, 3cities,marasxlokk,perhaps a day on Gozo, you can do half day or full day cruises of the harbour which takes in the 3 cities or get the ferry from Valletta also or the bus, you can also do cruises to Gozo which usually include a tour if the main sights.

Luna holiday complex is on the outskirts of the village but not far to walk to village or the bay where the beach is.

Thank you both for your replies.

Great heads up on the public holiday, I will definitely look to check Mosta out for that.

In terms of the other places to visit would you recommend getting a hire car or is it sufficient to rely upon the public transport?

Thanks again

A hire car would be the better idea .

There are plenty of buses passing by the Luna but they are often full with people coming off the ferries.

With a motorcar you will be able to visit some out of the way places.

If you do want to hire a car just make sure you avoid Goldcar and look for recommendations on this forum,

There are great Watersports facilities at or near the Luna which your sons (and you) might enjoy. There's a good diving school with an office there - see the hotel's website

Perhaps consider a car for 3 or 4 days only?

Best bus to Valletta as it's not ideal car territory, although you can park outside the city gates in the multi-storey.

Thank you, yes I was only thinking 3 or 4 days of car hire
