Bus in Malta

Hi everyone! I will be visiting Malta for the first time this month. Could you advise if it's worth renting a car or bus transport is ok there? Do they operate till late?

We will be staying in Buggiba and will want to visit Valletta for the whole day, so was thinking if we can get access to the bus back to Buggiba at the end of the day...

Would really appreciate your help!

Malta Public Transport operate around 100 routes on this small island, and those on main tourist routes are very frequent, and very busy. From Qawra/Bugibba services 31, 45 and 48 serve Valletta until around 2230hrs so no problem getting back. If you drive to Valletta you would have to park outside the city as cars are very restricted and parking near impossible inside the city.

Expect buses to be very busy at peak times but Bugibba to Valletta is an easy route and you have the benefit of getting on at Bugibba bus station.

Enjoy Valletta!

I would take the bus or where possible the ferry (by far the best option). Traffic can be very congested and while the bus ride can be hideous it is still preferable to trying to drive and park. Too many headaches IMO.
