Sightseeing hidden gems

We have 7 days in Malta in early September and have a good idea of what main sights we want to see. But are there any hidden gems that aren't in the guide books that are worth visiting. The other half is a keen photographer, I like history and we both like nature. We aren't planning on hiring a car but just using buses. We are staying in Sliema.

It may be on your agenda, but do get over to The Three Cities which are great for photography. You could cross to Valletta on the Sliema Ferry, then walk up through Valletta and down to get the ferry over to Vittoriosa.

Dingli Cliffs are scenic and nice walking territory - bit of a bus ride to get there though.

I can recommend Fomm Ir-Rih Bay and Coral Lagoon. There's also Il-Kalanka but I haven't been there yet (but will be there next month).

Oh, and there is some nice old town in Sliema behind these tall waterfront concrete buildings.
