Uppsalakortet/Uppsala Card

This may be of help to anyone visiting Uppsala, including those with children. We've been to Uppsala twice and found out about it only on the last day of our second visit - neither the tourist information at Arlanda nor at Uppsala told us about it.

It gives you

• free admission to most if not all the main museums in Uppsala;

• free transport on the green city buses, yellow regional buses, and the Uppstaget train within Uppsala, and on the 801 bus and the Upptaget train to and from the airport (the additional airport charge of SEK 75 still has to be paid when travelling to and from Arlanda Sky City by train); and

• free parking in designated municipal parking spaces.

It costs SEK 195 for a day (I don't know whether that means it runs from midnight to midnight or for 24 hours from when you activate it, as the travel pass in Stockholm does), and is valid for one adult and two children up to 15. Best of all, there is an autumn offer - and a summer one I think - whereby if you buy one card you get another one free! Given that it costs SEK 180 for two on the bus from the airport, it's a pretty good deal.

Thank you. I arrive Uppsala Today and never knew this before. I just saw the information on another site, and did a search and found your post. The card seems to be valid for 24 Hours from first swipe. If the Bus Schedule has early morning departures (say 5:00 am) then I think I will get one. Thanks and Safe Travels

PS: This is the link where I first read about the Card

The Uppsala Card has now (2017) been discontinued.

I contacted the very helpful Uppsala Tourist office on Facebook and got a rapid reply abour this.

They also recommended this excellent site.

http://www.uppsalasmuseer.se/english/engindex.html

It's the umbrella site for all the museums and historic attractions in Uppsala and has a daily diary showing which museums are open and their opening hours.

I live in Stockholm and am very keen to go and visit the various places connected with Linnaeus. It's only 40 minutes by train and will make a great spring or summer excursion for my kids. My son has been learning about the "Flower Power King" at school.

I just tried the links to Destination Uppsala and Uppsala Museums and they both still work.

And are well worth taking a look at!
