Hi there

It's pronounced as an aspirated "CH", in much the same way as the Scottish pronounce "loch".

That should mean that as I am of welsh background and have a welsh name that it will be easy to pronounce the ch.

Thanks GB

I think this is Xanemos with an x not a chi, so should it be pronounced ks?

You're right Steve I just looked it up and it's spelt Ξάνεμος so it's pronounced KsAnemos with the accent on the first A.

The letter X as GB says is pronounced as in loch but is not the correct letter in this case. Don't you love Greek, always something to trip you up!?

I just googled it in Greek to check the spelling. I have a Greek keyboard which helps!

I am hopeless with the Greek alphabet. I have been going to Greece for an annual holiday for some years now but still lack the confidence to try and pronounce names I also have a useless memory but I put that down to my age LOL !

This year I shall try harder as my teacher used to say many years ago.

A Greek keyboard - there's one for the Christmas list lol

I tried to write it in Greek, by copying and pasting from a Greek language website but to no avail!

I've now found this, so I can cross the keyboard off the list!

The only thing I would say is that although this works fine, it does partly add to the confusion, because the x key is used for χ (chi, pronounced as in the ch of loch)) and it is the j key which is used for Ξξ (X in upper and lower case)!
