Europe's Highest Set of Swings -- Update

An update regarding Europe's highest set of swings, atop the A'DAM Lookout observation deck.

Earlier message:

The official opening of the swings has been delayed. It was initially planned for August 1, then changed to August 5. A new date has not yet been set.

The swings are in place. They have been tested thoroughly, and they are safe. The wait is now for a certificate from an independent inspection body. This institute has recently laid down additional conditions and requirements; a unforeseen development that is entirely due to the fact that the swings represent a completely new and unique attraction in the Netherlands.

I have to say I am not that impressed by the Amsterdam lookout. To me, even the now reduced entrance fee is excessive for what you get.

You get just as good a view over town, either in or outdoors, from the Sky Lounge at the Doubletree. The money you save on the entrance fee then covers the cost of a drink.

Sky Lounge has a nice view as well, but it is impossible to get "just as good a view" from a building half as tall as the A'DAM Tower.

Essentially, they are different experiences. Me, I like the view at Sky Lounge, but much prefer the A'DAM Outlook. Drinks and food... I prefer MADAM (part of the Outlook experience) over Sky Lounge. Service likewise.

Swings (which is what my post was about) are not important to me. I may do that once for the kick. But as a local I do spend lots of time up there.

By the way, you can get a year pass (€27.50) and enjoy better drinks with a better view :)
