Amsterdam, Volendam and Zaanse Scans in 1 day

If we have the morning to walk around in Amsterdam, and the afternoon to visit Zaanse Scans, plus either Volendam,or Marken, or Monickendam, what would you choose? We would love to see the countryside, outside Amsterdam, and that is why we wish to spend only the morning in Amsterdam. Please help!!

Hi there,

Volendam and Edam are adjoining towns, only 15 mins walk between the two touristy centres. So this is more logical than adding Marken. Mind you that one afternoon with both ZS and these towns is quite challenging with public transport, with rented car or a group tour it's better...

All the best,

I'd just do them all and add Maastricht as well.

Thank you Cecile74! You say do them all - do you think with puc=blic transport that is possible? We are young and energetic and can walk or ride bicycles too if that would help. Erik, I appreciate your reply too. Thank you!!
