I am staying at a hotel directly across from Rembrandt Square and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for Coffee Shops or Take a way in the area.
Rokerij and Dampkring are normally recommended on here.
There are loads of take away food places in the area. Try Walk to Wok for noodles etc.
Barneys lounge is near rembrandtplein nice little coffeshop as for food outlets you will be spoilt for choice around that area ,,,enjoy....
The Rokerij chain was shut down about a year or so ago. You may be get tempted to go to Smokey's since it's got a big sign and it's right there on Rembrant Square, but it gets a lot of bad reviews. I agree with Shaunslob, Barney's is the best closest coffeeshop to Rembrandt Square but there are other good ones nearby and you can find them with the link Ronaldo provided. Amsterdam is compact enough that you'll be within walking distance of many.Edited: 08 August 2013, 18:24

Shows you how often I go into coffee shops LOL
Back up what Shaunslob and Hansblix said. Take a walk down the Reguliersgracht for about 3 blocks to Barney's Lounge - my favorite coffeeshop.
From the Rembrandtplein, walk west half a block along Reguliersdwarsstraat to Van Doben - best croquets and snacks in Amsterdan:
One of my favorite places for the munchies is to walk less than a block from Rembrandtplein along Halvemaansteeg to Grillroom Baba for the best Showarma in town.
