A warning for anyone needing to travel by train around Amsterdam and Schipol today--check the www.ns.nl website. It appears that due to technical problems, there are no or limited trains running from or to Amsterdam, including Schiphol. NS expects it to last until at least midday. Further information is available on the NS website, but here's an English translation of the notice they currently have up:
Traffic around Amsterdam and Schiphol gradually resumed
The failure of the control system of signals and points has been corrected. We are working hard at the start of the train, it goes in phases.
Please therefore account yet with very limited traffic.
The expectation is that the train service for the evening will be back in order. We will keep you informed.
